The Italian / Linskey Connection

When Steven Linskey’s father Tom finished playing golf on the European Tour he was head hunted by the Italian Golf Federation to become the first ever technical director and national coach of Italian golf. In 1981 when Tom went around Italy trying to discover elite talent for the high-performance school in Rome he arrived at Bergamo Golf Club and met Costantino Rocca, who at the time was the head caddy master at Bergamo Golf Club.

Costantino was 25 years old and had never played in a golf competition, amateur orprofessional. After getting him down to the school in Rome for coaching, they went to the European tour school together in 1982 where Costantino won his card to compete on the European Tour. From there Tom got the Italian Golf Federation to sponsor Costantino on the tour until he could make his own way. Year by year Costantino got better and better to eventually become the greatest Italian golfer in history.

With 17 tournament wins globally, 5 European Tour wins and 3 Ryder Cups where he beat Tiger Woods in the final day match play at Valderrama to clinch the Ryder Cup for Europe. It is quite amazing to see how much of an impact Tom has had on Italian golf and how he is held in such high regard by Italian Pro’s from the current generation and yesteryear, the Italian Golf Federation and Italian P.G.A. The current crop of Italian players on the world tour are being coached by Tom’s former pupils and they still ask for advice.

My name is Steven Linskey and I am the Director of On Tour Golf Tours and the General Manager of Meadowbrook Golf Club in Brisbane, Australia. I have been working in the golf tour industry for 14 years now, ever since I started hosting tours to Italy with my father Tom Linskey who is a 55-year member of the Australian P.G.A. I am a lover of sport, travel and experiencing different cultures and I feel extremely blessed that I get to experience all of these passions through my work.

On Tour Golf Tours provides exclusive fully escorted golf tours in Italy. We take pride in being able to show our clients golfing and non-golfing experiences that would not usually be attained by normal tourists. Playing some of the greatest golf courses in the world, we create a hassle-free vacation where the only thing our clients have to worry about on tour is their swing!

Leave the logistics of organising a golf trip in Italy to us. Buongiorno!

My name is Andrea Zammarini, and I am the Tour Operations Manager of On Tour Golf Tours. I am based in Italy, one hour south of Florence where I work at Castiglion del Bosco Golf Club. I have been working alongside Tom and Steven Linskey for the past 10 years organising and hosting incredible golf tours in Italy. Together we have travelled all the way from Rome to Venice, passing through Florence, Turin, Milano and everywhere in between taking care of our clients and delivering the best Italian golfing holiday experience.

My friendship with the Linskey’s started in 2008 when Tom, Steven and I first met in my home town on Lake Garda during one of their famous golf tours. I was 20 years old back then and, six months later, I moved to Queensland, Australia and have been working in the Linskey’s golf businesses ever since. During these years I worked for Tom and Steven at their golf school business ‘Australian Golf Schools’ on the Gold Coast & at the golf course they own in Brisbane called ‘Meadowbrook Golf Club’ as the Golf Operations Manager.
